The story about Joseph and his brothers is popular and known to many from childhood. The story is full of Christological imagery. The coat of many colors brings to mind God’s promise to the world through Noah. Never again will He destroy His creation. In the Gospels, Christ will be arrested by His kinsmen and “sold” to gentiles for prosecution—which eventually leads to the provision and prosperity of His people. Joseph’s subjugation results in the provision and prosperity of His family later on.
God is working history together for His own glory and the exaltation of Christ. He is working it together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
