  • The Serpent’s Gospel

    The Serpent’s Gospel

Do you remember that story? The one in the front of the Bible about Adam and Eve? You know, the couple who disobeyed God, ate from a tree, and had to be removed from paradise? Yeah, this is where our story begins. The story of Adam and Eve is not a story primarily about this…

The Pilgrim’s Relevancy XVI: Most Religion Hurts

The crowd broke into an uproar and pushed Christian and his comrades to the stage. One man yelled, “What gives you the right to determine what is true for the rest of us?” Another followed, “Your faith has so many contradictions anyway!” Still another blasted, “There is not even evidence that the King exists!” This…

    Behold American Independence: Explained

When we decide to share thoughts, we seem to have two options. The first is uncreative and many times uninspiring. It is a simple relay of information from one person to another for informational purposes. The second is creative and hopes to inspire thought. It is an oration (or a potential oration) that people will…

  • The Pilgrim’s Relevancy Book XV: The City of Religion

The Pilgrim’s Relevancy Book XV: The City of Religion

Religion was one of the darkest places on this side of the chasm, and there were a plethora of unique boroughs. There was one that identified with the King’s Son. There was one that claimed He did not need a son. There was one that posited there were many kings, and one that taught that…

  • Behold American Independence

    Behold American Independence

“Independence Day is nigh! It is the day that we celebrate the American colonies winning independence from Britain, and we assume to still have such independence, but there is distaste. What was honey to the lips might turn sour as it enters the stomach. Behold American Independence that provides its people with welfare and healthcare…

  • The Pilgrim’s Relevancy Book XIV: Too Many Christian Rules

The Pilgrim’s Relevancy Book XIV: Too Many Christian Rules

“Why do you attack the whole world?” someone came out of the school who was just as hot-headed as Encouragement was. The party looked at Encouragement. He almost started again, but noticed that Christian and Witness were both watching. They were watching with those eyes that silently begged him not to start again. He took…

  • The Pilgrim’s Relevancy Book XIII: Public Education

The Pilgrim’s Relevancy Book XIII: Public Education

As they walked, they noticed a building that they had not seen before. It was concealed by the crowd and above the door it had a sign that revealed it as a public school. People stood on both sides of the border between Power and Religion. The citizens of Religion spoke out against the public…

  • The Pilgrim’s Relevancy Book XII: Political Attrocities

The Pilgrim’s Relevancy Book XII: Political Attrocities

From that place in the street, they saw another city that was merged with this one. Its name was Religion and there was a man with a megaphone standing behind a self-made podium giving a speech. He stood tall almost on the border, but he was inside the limits of Power yelling into Religion. _______________ Book…

  • Childish Hatred Mistaken For Defending What Is Right?

Childish Hatred Mistaken For Defending What Is Right?

An old man poked his head up over the fence on a Saturday morning to observe his neighbor’s yard. “What kind of man,” he thought to himself, “lets his yard get so filthy?” He observed toy trucks and baseball gloves and the grass was taller than it should have been; it would come up to…

  • Listening to Preachers: be careful little ears what you hear!

Listening to Preachers: be careful little ears what you hear!

We all build our kingdoms in houses of brick. We furnish our homes and make sanctuaries for ourselves. Jim built his own home, got married and lived happily for three years there. One night as he and his wife watched television he went to turn the channel and his brand new 4K, suspended flat panel…
